Sean Dyche in attendance to watch West Brom face Reading as speculation mounts

Sean Dyche is in attendance at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in Reading to watch West Brom take on the Royals on Saturday, Adrian Goldberg reports.

The former Burnley boss has been heavily linked to the vacant Baggies managerial post since the sacking of Steve Bruce on Monday (10 October).

Dyche has been out of work since leaving Turf Moor after a decade on 16 April and was thought to be holding out for a return to management in the Premier League, but speculation will shoot up with him at the Albion match.

A post on the official Liquidator podcast Twitter account, run by Goldberg, on Saturday afternoon (15 October) said: “Sean Dyche at the game – doesn’t mean anything of course. He loves watching Reading”.

Could it be?

Despite the ironic suggestion that Dyche is a big fan of watching the home side this can surely point in one direction.

It may not mean that he is about to take the job just yet, but he will know as well as anyone what it would look like to suddenly arrive at a Baggies game when he is looking to get a new job, so there must be some interest.

He will likely have been pretty impressed by what he has seen in the first half in Berkshire, as a fast start saw the visitors pinging the ball about and looking very confident.

West Brom

After Brandon Thomas-Asante had gone close to taking the lead with a shot that was deflected narrowly wide of the near post, they did make their dominance pay through Matt Phillips.

The 31-year-old produced a neat finish to arrow a shot in from inside the right-hand side of the area after 25 minutes, as part of an all round performance under interim boss Richard Beale that suggests a set of players who have had a weight lifted off their shoulders.

In the first match since Bruce was removed there have been some very encouraging signs on the pitch, and with Dyche seen as possibly the best man to rescue this season’s dreadful start, maybe also in the stands.

In other West Brom news, one talkSPORT pundit has said the Hawthorns job is Dyche’s best opportunity to get back to the Premier League.
