Chris Lepkowski raves about Taylor Gardner-Hickman in West Brom win v Reading
Chris Lepkowski has showered heaps of praise on Taylor Gardner-Hickman as West Brom finally returned to winning ways in the Championship.
The Baggies produced a massively improved performance under interim boss Richard Beale as they won 2-0 against Reading on Saturday (15 October).
Goals from Matt Phillips and Gardner-Hickman secured all three points for the visitors, and Beale could not have asked for a better start in his interim role.
Lepkowski wrote on Twitter: “What a goal by Gardner-Hickman. That’s why he should be in the side. Brilliant midfield play.”
Brilliant
It was indeed a superb performance from Gardner-Hickman. He registered as assist for Phillips in the first half. In the second half, he drove forward and scored a smashing goal, which was his first for the club.
There were some other notable performances as well. Martin Kelly was pretty solid at the back, while Phillips was immense with his offensive displays. He showed great commitment to drive forward.
However, one player who really made a big difference was Alex Palmer. He produced some vital late saves as the Baggies managed to hold on to their lead.

The Royals went for nearly all-out attack towards the end of the game, and Palmer made some strong saves.
It’s a very encouraging start under Beale. Clearly, there was a shift noticeable from the Bruce era. There were quick passing and plenty of attacking intent shown by the players.
Gardner-Hickman produced a moment of magic, and Lepkowski is absolutely spot on that he deserves to be in the side on a regular basis.
In other West Brom news, Dyche has been told that his route back to the Premier League is with the Baggies.
