West Brom manager target and ex Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick wants Steve Bruce son to join him at Middlesbrough
West Brom have reportedly lost the race to secure the services of former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick to Middlesbrough.
According to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Carrick wants to bring Alex Bruce – the son of former Baggies boss Steve Bruce – with him to the Riverside Stadium.
The former interim Manchester United boss will now get the nod from Boro owner Steve Gibson which will mean that Brom will have to look for an alternative.

Another one bites the dust?
Sean Dyche is understood to be a target but he appears to have aspirations to manage a Premier League club in the future.
That all but rules him out of the running as there are a few managers on the brink in the top flight and he would think he’s going to be in contention for those jobs.
Now, it seems like Carrick is also unlikely to be the Baggies manager as he’s heading to Middlesbrough and Ron Gourlay will continue the search for a new boss.
It would’ve been good to have a manager who’s won the Champions League and Premier League as a player and would instantly command the respect of the dressing room.
They cannot keep appointing managers that have years of experience in the second flight without success in the first division as they’ll never get closer to promotion.
Hopefully, they make a decision soon or at least communicate to the players when a decision is likely rather than leave everyone in a state of confusion.
