West Brom interim boss Richard Beale impressed by Reyes Cleary focus

West Brom interim boss Richard Beale has been impressed by the focus of Reyes Cleary in recent weeks, especially leading up to the Reading game.

The 18-year-old is now pushing to make a start in the Albion first-team and could make his home league bow against Bristol City on Tuesday evening (18 October).

Beale admitted Cleary did great work all week leading up to the Reading game and is now more “focused” than ever after not scoring in the game.

“Reyes did great all week and we ummed and ahhed about starting him – I know everyone was after the answer to that question,” said Beale as quoted by the Express and Star.

“He came on for a good amount of time, he didn’t get a goal and he’s the most focused forward ever. He’ll be a little bit disappointed that he didn’t get a goal despite never really getting a clear chance.

“But he worked really hard and, again, as long as he keeps his feet on the floor – which he’s showing every sign he’s going to as he listens really well – (he has the chance) of having a good career.”

Jewel.

Cleary is the crown jewel from the academy and is destined for big things, it’s nice to see he’s finally got the call-up to first-team action.

The youngster has started the season well in the Premier League 2, scoring 10 goals in eight games, hopefully, he can transfer these prolific numbers to the Championship.

Beale’s emergence as caretaker manager of the Baggies has certainly helped push Cleary into contention for a spot in the first-team, he used to be the youngster’s boss at the U21s level.

Now, Cleary must take advantage of the caretaker manager’s trust and prove to whoever is taking the reins at the Hawthorns that he is here to stay.

At 18 years old, Cleary already has the physical attributes to thrive in the English second tier and his pace and physicality should take him a long way in the league.

It’s going to be exciting to see how many goals the phenom scores this season, he could end up bagging plenty.
