West Brom hold multiple interviews with Carlos Corberan over vacant manager role
West Brom have held multiple interviews with Carlos Corberan over the vacant manager role at The Hawthorns according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.
The BBC’s Simon Stone reported (via Twitter, 19 October) the Baggies were “close” to announcing a successor to Steve Bruce.
Crook has since revealed (via Twitter, 19 October) that the former Huddersfield boss has had “at least two interviews”. It’s also understood that Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher is also admired by the Baggies.
Finally
It appears the Baggies’ search for a new manager is finally coming to some sort of conclusion. Their latest defeat against Bristol City looks to have accelerated the process.
It’s remarkable that no managers were sounded out when Bruce was still in charge to avoid a period of limbo which is occurring right now. Surely someone in the West Brom board had an inkling that it wasn’t quite working out for Bruce and that a change was looking imminent.

Both names Crook has mentioned would be good appointments. Corberan has recent success in the Championship and Schumacher is one of the most highly sought-after coaches in the EFL at the moment. The former Huddersfield boss does look like the most likely option considering he is currently out of work.
Schumacher has taken Plymouth Argyle to the top of League One and will more than likely require the Baggies to pay a compensation package for his services.
