Kevin Campbell tells West Brom ‘take your time’ over managerial appointment
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
It’s now been 10 days since Steve Bruce was sacked at The Hawthorns and Kevin Campbell is pleased to see West Brom taking their time finding a successor.
West Brom currently sit 22nd in the Championship after a nightmare start to the season, and the Baggies are also managerless after the board decided to part ways with Bruce.
The hiring process for his successor is still ongoing, and former Albion striker Campbell is pleased with immediate decisions never tending to end well.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Campbell said: “They have to get this one right. Take your time, get this one right.
“Immediate reactions and getting in quick managers [doesn’t work]. Maybe the recruitment situation should have been a bit more thorough.
“Take your time and get the right man in, I think that’s really important.“
Campbell is right – choosing the new manager is a huge decision, and possibly the club’s most important choice in a generation.
Get it correct and the Baggies could go barrelling up the table with the squad they have. Get it wrong, and the club is on a one-way track to relegation.

Therefore it’s promising that the club are undergoing a thorough interviewing process and not simply hiring a manager based on availability.
As every week ticks on, the club finds itself dropping further and further back in the table. But there’s still plenty of time left to turn around – the Baggies need to make sure they find the right person to lead that charge.
