Richard Beale will take charge of West Brom at Millwall for the final time

Richard Beale will take charge of West Brom for the final time at The Den on Saturday, as the Baggies prepare to end their manager hunt, according to Lewis Cox.

It’s understood the Baggies are nearing the conclusion of their manager search with Carlos Corberan thought to be the leading candidate.

However, the Express and Star journalist revealed (via Twitter, 21 October) it is now unlikely that a new manager will be in the dugout for their Championship fixture against Millwall.

Good call

It makes sense for Beale to take control of Albion’s fixture in South London, with a new manager having very little time to get anything over to the players before they take on one of the Championship’s most in-form sides.

West Brom don’t have a midweek fixture which will give the new manager time to get some of his methods across on the training ground before they host Sheffield United at The Hawthorns. This process should have been completed sooner and the blame lies with the board for failing to notice Steve Bruce’s reign not improving.

West Brom

Candidates should have been sounded out before a decision had been made to remove Bruce from his position. The Baggies have a woeful recent record in terms of their manager appointment and it’s absolutely crucial they don’t repeat the trick with their next appointment.

There is certainly enough talent in this squad, let’s hope the next man in charge can really get the best out of these misfiring players.
