Carlos Corberan appreciates size of West Brom as announcement on cards

Carlos Corberan appreciates the size of West Brom as he’s reportedly closing in on taking over the helm at the Hawthorns.

According to Express and Star on 24 October, the 39-year-old is keen on moving to the club as an appointment is now likely to be on the cards.

The Baggies have been looking for a new manager since sacking Steve Bruce and are keen on hiring the former Leeds United assistant.

Good move

The problem with the Baggies is that they’ve often looked to make short-term appointments.

There has never been a concrete long-term plan that goes beyond mere promotion and there is no sustainable project at the club.

This is precisely why manager after manager struggles at the club and eventually ends up getting the sack because there are issues at the board level.

Hopefully, Corberan is being brought in with a concrete plan as the reports claim that he is brought in with a specific project in mind.

It will be interesting to see how quickly he can implement his ideas onto the new squad and get them to play good football.

The club does want to bring him in before the weekend game against Millwall on Saturday so they do have a couple of days more to iron out the final details.

Corberan does appear to be a good manager and Pep Guardiola admires him, having recommended him for a coaching job at Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. [Comarcal CV]
