Carlos Corberan close to joining West Brom as manager – Guillem Balague
The deal for Carlos Corberan to become West Brom manager is “almost done” according to Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague.
The Spanish coach was most recently the manager of Huddersfield before resigning on the eve of the current season, but looks set to replace Steve Bruce at The Hawthorns after he was sacked two weeks ago.
The Baggies won their first game without Bruce when they beat Reading, but have since lost their last two games against Bristol City and Millwall to now sit in 23rd place under Richard Beale.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Balague praised the move to bring in Corberan, who he knows well and has done interviews with in the past and insisted he is the right man for the club going forward.
“Carlos Corberan to WBA is such a good move (almost done),” he said.
“He is a process man who understands English football having been at Leeds and Huddersfield Looks after details, improves players, mixes well talent and strength, control and transitions.
“Unlike other managers, he would never think he is bigger than the club, especially with [West Brom], a massive club in his eyes. A club man in the chance of his life!”
Huge
This will without a doubt be the biggest half a season at the club in the last decade, and Corberan has got the biggest task of his young career to get this team going again.
The squad is far too strong to be where it is in the league, and while it’s not entirely the fault of the management and owners they played a big part in this.

Corberan, if it’s to be him to take charge, must come in and make an immediate impact not only to start getting results but also to win round the many fans who have doubts about the appointment.
He has very little history to suggest he will do well despite getting Huddersfield to the playoffs last year, but that was an entirely different kettle of fish.
Now he is coming into a struggling side in the middle of a season and battling at the wrong end of the table, with angry fans and a board that won’t offer him much in way of support. Good luck Carlos.
