West Brom must respond as Middlesbrough make managerial move
West Brom need to be getting very close to hiring their next permanent manager soon because others are leaving them behind.
On Monday (24 October), fellow relegation struggles Middlesbrough announced former England international and Premier League winner Michael Carrick as their new head coach following the sacking of Chris Wilder.
Boro really announced their intent on moving up the division with the appointment of such an accomplished person in the world of football who even managed Manchester United briefly last season.
The Baggies do have people lined up and in talks with such as Carlos Corberan, formerly of Leeds United [as per Guillem Balague] but they have to try everything they can to hire him ready for the next game on Saturday (29 October).
Albion will host high-flying Sheffield United for that game having already beaten the Blades at the start of the season in the Carabao Cup, although neither side put out a full-strength side for that particular clash.
Richard Beale has been an average caretaker in the time since Steve Bruce was relieved of his duties at The Hawthorns but the longer he remains in charge, the worse things will get for West Brom.

Only a very poor start to the season for Huddersfield is currently keeping the Baggies from being bottom of the Championship but even the Terriers have a game in hand they still have to play.
With the way the 2022-23 season is likely to work thanks to the World Cup in November, it is becoming imperative that clubs stay out of the drop zone in their respective leagues when the pause comes.
Corberan, or whoever takes charge, has to work extremely quick to make that happen because that pause in play is very rapidly approaching.
In other West Brom news, there has been a twist in the managerial hunt as this manager has reportedly not been interviewed despite what others had said.
