Carlos Corberan travelling from Leeds to sign 2.5 year deal with West Brom – Guillem Balague
Carlos Corberan is travelling from Leeds to put pen to paper on a two and a half year deal with West Brom to become their new manager, says Guillem Balague.
The Spaniard was most recently the manager at Huddersfield before resigning on the eve of the new season, but is set to replace Steve Bruce at The Hawthorns within the next 24 hours after personal terms were agreed.
And Balague, who works for Sky, BBC and more as a Spanish football expert and is known to be close with Corberan, confirmed on his personal Twitter account that a deal is done.
“Corberan travelling from Leeds to Birmingham to sign for [West Brom] for 2 1/2 years,” he said.
“This is exciting news! Process, lots of work and structure is what he has to do now.
“Try to find out what he is doing to understand that process.”
An announcement is expected later today [25 October], with his first game in charge set to be against Sheffield United on Saturday lunchtime.
Finally
It’s been a long time coming but finally the Baggies have got a new man in charge, and now it’s time for the fans to get behind him.
He isn’t the most glamorous of names and he has got an incredibly difficult job ahead of him, with the team sitting in 23rd place in the division, but the quality of the squad means we should be able to get out of this predicament.

He’s had success in the division before, taking Huddersfield to the playoffs last season, and his deal means he has been given time to rebuild and hopefully get the club back to where it belongs.
It’s interesting that Balague is expecting him to implement his own structure and processes, and is already essentially asking for time from the fans.
But we need results yesterday, and Corberan must ensure they come first before any more bad times or the fans will be unrelenting as we push to avoid relegation.
