Kevin Campbell delivers stern warning to West Brom players about Carlos Corberan
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Carlos Corberan is inching closer to becoming the new West Brom manager, and Kevin Campbell is keen to warn the players about the Spaniard’s style.
West Brom seem to have finally found their Steve Bruce successor, with Telegraph journalist John Percy reporting on Tuesday (25 October) that former Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan is set to be announced as their new manager.
Ex-Baggies striker Kevin Campbell labelled Corberan a “really good” appointment but believes his arrival at The Hawthorns could spell bad news for a number of players.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Campbell said: “He knows exactly what it takes [in the Championship]. He knows what he needs.
“Someone who is going to go in and he’s got his own style.
“He’s going to challenge the dressing room. Whoever is going to come on board with his style is going to be involved and those who are not are probably going to have to leave the club.
“He runs a tight ship and he needs everyone on board going in one direction. I think he’d be a really good appointment, a really good signing.
“Someone has to get this West Brom ship going, got to. They’re too good a club with too good a squad to not.”

Campbell clearly expects Corberan to come in and employ a particular style of play, with any players unable to fit into his plans left on the sidelines.
While it’s certainly a bold move, it’s one that is necessary to get this club back to where it belongs. The players have lacked discipline and direction and Corberan seems like the right man to make sure that changes.
It could be a tough start for the Spaniard as he initially tries to get his ideas across to the squad, but the club have to back him all the way.
