Kevin Campbell suggests Carlos Corberan alternative, Liam Rosenior has ‘a lot to offer’ West Brom

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Should a move for Carlos Corberan fall through, Kevin Campbell would be happy to see former Derby boss Liam Rosenior take the job at West Brom.

West Brom seem to have made their mind up on the new manager, with John Percy confirming that Corberan is set to be appointed as the new boss at The Hawthorns.

But with the move yet to be completed, Campbell has offered the Baggies a late alternative in the shape of former Derby boss Rosenior.

The Sun reported that the Baggies held talks with the 38-year-old, and Campbell insists that he ticks all the boxes required for the job.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Campbell said: “Liam is very good. A very good coach with very good ideas. He’s been in and about the game obviously with his dad.

“He feels he’s got a lot to offer West Bromwich Albion and can get things back on the road.

“He’s someone who is articulate, someone who is smart. That denotes a new manager, doesn’t it?

The ‘new breed of manager’ so to speak.

“It’s going to be interesting to see what West Brom do, but if they went for him I wouldn’t complain let’s put it that way. I think it’d be a good appointment.

What Rosenior lacks in experience, he makes up for in style. While he is certainly a very young manager, he showed a clear style of play at Derby and Campbell has picked up on it.

Despite never managing in the Championship, his playing experience and coaching time in League One does hold him in good stead. However, Corberan’s time with Huddersfield does give him the edge in negotiations.

But with Rosenior keen on sticking around and having already held talks with the Baggies, he’s certainly a manager to keep an eye on.
