West Brom to make behind-the-scenes change after appointing Carlos Corberan

West Brom will now be looking to bring in a trusted Carlos Corberan lieutenant after they hired the former Leeds United coach as their permanent manager.

According to Express and Star journalist Lewis Cox, there will be a new look to the backroom staff at the Hawthorns.

James Morrison and Gary Walsh will be staying on but people familiar with the workings of the former Marcelo Bielsa ally will be looked at and possibly brought in.

Cox wrote on Twitter, “It will be new-look, tbf. CC will bring at least one of his lieutenants in.”

New era

The process was a long one but they have finally decided to appoint Steve Bruce’s successor and have turned to someone with decent experience.

He may not have been a first-team manager in the Premier League yet but he’s got coaching experience at the under-23s and then as an assistant before taking the Huddersfield job.

Corberan will certainly play attractive football and will hopefully help the club set up a decent structure behind the scenes.

Right now, the board are all over the place and getting in a manager who’s not just a coach but also someone who can help overhaul the inner workings of the club.

West Brom should and will give him the reins to bring in whichever coaches he wants as they do with their previous managers.

We’re still not too sold on the two names they’re retaining from the Bruce era but they’re not likely to have that big a say given the other names soon to come in.
