David Prutton predicts result of West Brom vs Sheffield United

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has been backed to get a tune out of the squad as he prepares for his first game in charge against Sheffield United.

The Baggies sit in 23rd place in the Championship currently but will have Corberan in charge of the team for the first time since he replaced Steve Bruce earlier in the week.

But despite the poor form of both sides in this game, Sky Sports pundit David Prutton expects both teams to be battling to “stop the rot” and has predicted a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns in his predictions column [28 October].

West Brom

“Carlos Corberan has some job on at West Brom because they are bang in trouble,” he said.

“He should be able to get a tune out of this squad, mind. There is plenty of talent there to work with.

“Sheffield United are in no kind of form at all. But they are getting their best players back from injury and Paul Heckingbottom will be desperate to stop the rot. But I think this will be a score draw.”

Must win

It’s horrible for the manager to be in this position in his first game in charge, but this really is a must-win game for West Brom already in this season.

Corberan has been brought in to save this club from relegation and potentially push up towards a playoff place for the end of the season, and that means we have to win this game to kickstart the season now.

The Blades are in absolutely horrendous form at the moment too, so there is arguably no better opponent to come up against and the fans will be firmly behind him too.

Getting off to a good start will do wonders for the morale of the club and the team, and if they can string together good results before the break for the World Cup they will do themselves a huge favour.

A loss though and things begin to look bleak for all involved, and questions immediately begin to get asked once again.

In other West Brom news, Simon Jordan has blasted Corberan’s appointment and labelled it “strange”
