West Brom manager Carlos Corberan warned of ‘entitlement’ by Phil Brown
Carlos Corberan is preparing for his first game as West Brom manager when Sheffield United come to town on Saturday (29 October).
The Spaniard arrived at the club on Wednesday (26 October) having previously managed both Huddersfield Town and Olympiakos with varying levels of success.
Former Football League manager Phil Brown is concerned about Corberan’s appointment at The Hawthorns and sent a warning to him on the BBC’s Football Daily podcast.

“I’ve looked at this guy’s history and he has got an entitlement it seems,” Brown said. “He’s in management off the back of a good CV.
“He’s been assistant manager to a number of top men. He tried it himself being head coach and he’s walked having got to the playoffs which was strange.
“He’s been with a couple of top teams and it hasn’t worked out, he’s been with Bielsa at Leeds, he’s got some great mentors and he obviously has an idea of the game.
“But you’ve got to actually compete in this game, it’s as simple as that. You can be the greatest coach in the world but if you come up against a team that’s resilient, then you’re in trouble.”
Judgement
Brown can read up on Corberan all he likes but the truth of the matter is that he knows nothing about what he has done previously and what he may do next.
It seems so premature to tarnish him with the brush of somebody who walks away from a challenge before he has even managed a game at West Brom.

It’s as if he is forgetting that the Baggies are currently slumped down in 23rd position in the Championship and only his former side Huddersfield are lower at this moment in time.
There might not be a bigger challenge than that in the entire second division so to suggest he walks away from such things is simply nonsense.
Corberan will have had his own reasons for leaving the John Smith’s Stadium and he is totally entitled to those reasons and it is unfair to criticise him for the decisions he made personally.
In other West Brom news, Carlton Palmer had a very different view of the new Baggies boss in his analytical verdict of the Spaniard.
