Carlos Corberan delivers irritated reaction as West Brom suffer defeat v Sheffield United

West Brom lost again on Saturday as they took on Sheffield United in Carlos Corberan’s first game in charge of the club leaving the Spaniard frustrated with the performance.

The defeat sent West Brom to the bottom of the Championship table, a sore sight for eyes and a worrying picture of how their season may pan out.

Corberan admitted that he’s aware it is “frustrating” for the fans at the moment and that he’s working towards changing the club’s mentality.

West Brom

“I know it can be frustrating for our fans because they have watched these games many times before. The only thing I will do is try my best to change this feeling into a positive one,” said Corberan, as quoted by the Express and Star.

“When the result is good, this way easy to believe, when the results are not good, it’s hard to believe.

“We need to start with a high level of a strong mentality.”

West Brom

Bleak.

Corberan’s first game in charge left little to be proud of, two goals within 23 minutes from Blades strikers Iliman Ndiaye and Oli McBurnie doomed the Baggies to defeat.

Two wins from 17 games just isn’t good enough and in what promised to be a bright start in front of a home crowd for Corberan ended up being a disaster.

An early Matt Phillips attempt could have made things a lot different, the winger, who actually had a decent game scuffed a cross when he should have taken a chance on goal.

It’s little swings like this that just don’t seem to be going the Baggies’ way at the moment but ultimately that was one of the only good chances they had.

Corberan has a massive job on his hands to turn this around, the hosts were booed off at the end of both halves by the home crowd in the frustrating clash.

The new manager bounce back hasn’t seemed to work just yet, which is slightly worrying.

Hopefully, with more time under his belt, Corberan can change the tides of the Baggies doomed campaign.
