West Brom: Six Blackpool players ruled out of game as Shayne Lavery returns

West Brom will welcome Blackpool to The Hawthorns on Tuesday (1 November) looking to pick up their first win under Carlos Corberan.

The Seasiders are a side that never gives up and have claimed some big scalps already this season despite losing manager Neil Critchley to Aston Villa on the eve of the new campaign.

Michael Appleton was the man who came in to take the reins at Bloomfield Road and he has confirmed that he is unlikely to change the squad from the one that came from behind to beat Coventry City.

As reported by the Blackpool Gazette, Liam Bridcutt and Keshi Anderson are not likely to be risked as they return from injury while Jordan Gabriel, Kevin Stewart, Lewis Fiorini and Jake Beesley all remain out.

Appleton will have menacing striker Shayne Lavery back available again, though, after he served his three-match suspension following a straight red card against Sheffield United.

Win or bust

It may only be Corberan’s second game in charge but West Brom almost have to win this match to keep themselves in touch with the rest of the division.

The Baggies slipped to the very bottom of the Championship on Saturday (29 October) after Huddersfield battled to a 1-0 win at home to Millwall and Albion were beaten by the Blades.

There were a lot of players in peculiar positions, to begin with, which saw Sheffield United race into the 2-0 lead they never relinquished and that has to be quashed against the Seasiders.

Appleton’s side has the ability to very quickly tear a team to pieces on their day and they will be fancying their chances at The Hawthorns given the form of the two sides.

After Blackpool, West Brom head to the capital to take on Michael Beale’s very in-form Queens Park Rangers before a home game against Stoke City ends the period of games prior to the World Cup break.

In other West Brom news, the player ratings from the Sheffield United defeat make for difficult reading as the defence gets a slaughtering.
