Sky Sports pundit insists West Brom fan unrest will die down under Carlos Corberan
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
West Brom fans have voiced their frustration at the club and the board this week, but Kevin Campbell insists it’ll all die down under Carlos Corberan.
The Baggies were booed off the pitch during last week’s 2-0 loss to Sheffield United, while fans staged a protest against the board during Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over Blackpool.
It’s not the first time that fans have shown their disapproval of club owner Guochuan Lai, and the poor performances on the pitch haven’t helped matters at all.

But while fans continue to show their frustration in the stands, ex-Baggies striker Campbell believes the fan unrest will quickly die down once the team starts winning again.
Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Campbell said: “There’s one thing [Corberan] has to do – win. Fan unrest and going for the board – that all dies down when the club gets some wins, that’s what they need.
“They need a couple of wins before the break just so fans can see what is going on.
“They’ll still be against the board but they’ll see what’s going on. Let Corberan do his stuff, and then they can come back after the break and they can get going.
“It’s a tough one at The Hawthorns right now because West Brom used to be near the Premier League most of the time. They’ve yo-yo’d at times but the fanbase are probably thinking: ‘hold on a minute, we’ve been up, we’ve been down, we have the parachute money, so what is happening?’
“And the fans are right to ask questions.“

The fans definitely will keep asking questions. Both on and off the pitch, West Brom have not been good enough this season.
Lai is no scapegoat, his ownership of the club has been dire and fans are understandably upset. Improvements in performances and results may stop the moans and groans around players and management, but the board will remain a target for the fans.
