West Brom win v Blackpool leaves Nigel Quashie praising fans’ factor

West Brom secured a hugely crucial three points on Tuesday (1 November) as they left it late to beat Michael Appleton’s Blackpool.

Okay Yokuslu struck the winning goal five minutes from time to not only lift the Baggies off the bottom of the Championship but also give Carlos Corberan his first points in charge.

Victory for Huddersfield at home to Sunderland would see Albion sink back to the basement of the division but Nigel Quashie is not bothered by that in his praise for everything West Brom.

“Pleased for the new manager getting his first win for West Brom,” he said via his personal Twitter account. “All that mattered was the players getting a result.

“Hopefully, this gives everyone associated with the club the lift it needs. Most of all the supporters. You don’t go unnoticed.”

Season saving

Even in November, that win against the Tangerines is as close to a season-saving result as they come for West Brom given the games on the way.

Albion travel to the capital on Saturday to take on Michael Beale’s high-flying Queens Park Rangers in a very difficult-looking task before hosting Stoke City on 12 November in the final game before the World Cup break.

West Brom

The Baggies will be back in action before the World Cup ends with a trip to Sunderland due for 12 December when they hope to start gathering momentum for a very busy few months.

Quashie is totally right when he says the fans’ work doesn’t go unnoticed and every one of them will be needed in their entirety as Corberan tries to lead the club out of trouble.

The injury return of Daryl Dike will surely be a huge boost for the Spaniard once the World Cup is over and hopefully this time he can stay fit for more than a few minutes.

In other West Brom news, Corberan is set to bring in a new regime at The Hawthorns that he picked up from his time at Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa.
