BBC pundit absolutely convinced as he makes West Brom relegation claim

West Brom may well be languishing second-bottom in the Championship but Carlton Palmer cannot see how they end up being relegated.

Carlos Corberan picked up his first three points as Albion manager on Tuesday (1 November) against Blackpool to lift them off the bottom of the table ahead of their trip to Queens Park Rangers.

BBC pundit Palmer believes that the squad and the manager are far too good to be getting relegated to the third division despite a slow start to the season.

West Brom

“I 110%, don’t believe they go down,” he said to Football League World. “They have a good squad of players. It just has not been happening for them.

“The league table suggests that, of course, they’re relegation contenders. And if they think that they’re not in that battle, then that’s where their problem is going to come in.

“They are not a team to get relegated from the Championship. They’ve got far too much quality. I’ve seen them several times this season and how they have not been winning games is beyond me.”

Momentum

The QPR game and a home match with Stoke are the only games left prior to the World Cup break and it will only be upon their return that West Brom can start to gather some proper momentum.

Corberan has the license to try things in these next two matches to hopefully find something that clicks in a big way and he can then build around that during the month-long break.

Most, if not all, of the Baggies’ squad won’t be on the plane to Qatar with Semi Ajayi’s Nigeria not qualifying from an incredibly tough African section but Tom Rogic is likely to make the journey with Australia.

If it is only one or two players representing their country then Corberan has the freedom to put on his own pre-season in properly drilling his players into what he wants to do.

A month on the training ground should be plenty to completely transform this team while there are no games to be distracted by.

In other West Brom news, The Hawthorns is in the process of becoming a community asset as a local MP provided an update via Twitter on Wednesday (2 November).
