Daryl Dike set to be ‘assessed’ for West Brom ahead of QPR clash, while severity of Karlan Grant injury is revealed

Lewis Cox has revealed how long West Brom will be without Karlan Grant for, while Daryl Dike could be set to return against QPR this weekend.

Carlos Corberan has received both good and bad injury news this week, with one striker set to make a first-team return while another is set for a lengthy stay in the treatment room.

Express & Star’s Cox took to Twitter to reveal that Grant’s injury will see him sidelined for three to four weeks, meaning he’ll be out of action until after the World Cup.

As for Dike, the American forward is on the brink of returning to full fitness, with an assessment yet to be made on whether he’ll feature v QPR.

“Karlan Grant (ankle) out for three/four weeks and will miss next two games pre-World Cup. Daryl Dike in full training with West Brom yesterday and will be assessed ahead of QPR trip,” wrote Cox.

Mixed news

West Brom are in desperate need of some firepower, and Corberan would surely love to have both Grant, who cost the Albion £15million, and Dike available to him against QPR.

Saturday’s opposition are flying high in fourth in the Championship this season and will be an extremely difficult task for the Baggies away from home.

West Brom

It seems like Dike’s involvement will be touch-and-go, but the 22-year-old would be a boost to the squad if cleared as fit.

It’s unlikely that Dike would be thrown directly into the lineup by Corberan regardless of if he is fit or not, but the physical forward is always a great option from the bench, especially if the Baggies find themselves chasing a result.

Grant will be a huge miss, but hopefully the 25-year-old takes the World Cup break to return to full fitness and come back firing on all cylinders when the Championship resumes in December.
