Nigel Quashie delighted by major West Brom move with Chris Brunt

Chris Brunt’s new West Brom role as the loans manager will be highly beneficial to the young players at the club, according to Nigel Quashie.

The ex-Albion man is delighted by the development with the Baggies legend as things start to take shape amid what has been a dreadful start to the season.

Carlos Corberan secured his first win as manager against Blackpool on Tuesday night (1 November) and the announcement on Thursday that Brunt is set to work with all the squads to help players on temporary moves away has drawn a glowing review from Quashie.

Reacting to the news on his personal Twitter account on Thursday evening (3 November) the former Albion midfielder said: “All that knowledge and experience can only benefit and help young players get better!”

Positive

There hasn’t been a great deal at West Brom to encourage the fans this season, as the Steve Bruce era imploded much like the one he took over from.

But there are perhaps tentative signs of a plan coming together now that Corberan is in and Brunt has been appointed to a behind the scenes role.

There was next to no recruitment process when Bruce was appointed to replace Valerien Ismael last season, but this time Ron Gourlay at least went through a few candidates.

West Brom

And in the club’s recent history there aren’t many players who will be able to command the respect the Brunt does, so if his commitment on the pitch can be matched in any way in his new role this move should be a positive.

The Nothern Irishman’s job will be key if the Baggies are going to take advantage of the talent they produce in house, especially considering the lack of transfer budget in recent windows.

All too often in the past few years youngsters have thought it a better option to leave for rival clubs, most gallingly Aston Villa on more than one occasion.

And with the likes of Caleb Taylor and Josh Griffiths currently out on loan at Cheltenham and Portsmouth respectively, there are key figures with potentially big Albion futures for him to look after already.

In other West Brom news, the club have been told they can still make the play offs this season.
