Chris Brunt appointed in new West Brom academy development role

Chris Brunt has been appointed in a new West Brom academy development role, where he will push future stars into the Albion first-team.

As loans manager, Brunt will work alongside the first team, recruitment and the academy to deliver the finest results for players on and off the pitch.

Brunt admitted he was “delighted” to be given the role and wants to pass on his experiences as a professional to up-and-coming talents at the Baggies.

“I’m delighted to take on a role that will help to continue the development of the young players I have been working alongside over the last 18 months,” said Brunt speaking to wba.co.uk.

“I hope to pass on my experiences from my time as a professional, in addition to my youth career at Middlesbrough. As a young man I was a long way from home, and I know that can be difficult. It’s part of my role to offer support to the lads on life and football.

“Loan spells are key to developing players and it’s a big part of providing the pathway from our academy to the first team. I’m looking forward to getting out on the road to see the progress made by our loan players.

“I’d like to thank the football club for their support since I retired as a player, and I am now determined to repay their faith in me by fulfilling the role to the best of my ability.”

West Brom

The role.

This is a first-class appointment from West Brom and it’s always nice to see heroes of the club being repaid with roles once they have retired.

The loans manager role will see Brunt travel up and down the country, providing first-class advice and support to players out on loan.

Loan roles are crucial for young players’ development and offer better talents within the youth ranks chances at some first-team action.

Brunt will return to the Hawthorns with progress reports of the players who are out on loan, providing coaches with real-time insights into how youth talents are performing.

There’s arguably no better man than Brunt to help prepare players for first-team action at The Hawthorns, he’s pretty much seen it all in his time in the West Midlands.

West Brom’s academy seems to be producing a heap load of talent recently, Taylor Gardner-Hickman being the highlight this campaign.

Hopefully, more will follow his suit under the guidance of Brunt.
