Tom Rogic ‘bombshell’ as journalist reacts to update on West Brom ace
ABC Sports journalist Daniel Garb has been lefted stunned by Tom Rogic’s omission from Australia’s World Cup squad with the West Brom midfielder set to remain at home.
The Socceroos announced (via Twitter) on Tuesday 8 November their 26-man squad for their sixth World Cup set to take place in Qatar.
However, Rogic, who has 53 appearances and ten goals for his national side, was left out of Graham Arnold’s plans, a decision which left Garb shocked.
“Bombshell. Tom Rogic and Trent Sainsbury both left out of the Socceroos World Cup squad,” he said (via Twitter, 8 November).
Good for the Baggies
This should come as excellent news for West Brom and Carlos Corberan, who will have a full squad to drill his ideas into on the training ground during the World Cup break. It’s been a really positive start to his reign at The Hawthorns, with Albion’s latest win over Queen’s Park Rangers their most impressive of the season so far.
It’s surprising to see Rogic not included in the Australia squad considering the vast experience he has at international level. Perhaps the Baggies’ underperformance this season has seen the 29-year-old overlooked for players who are potentially enjoying a little bit more success.

For Corberan, he has an excellent chance to make it three wins on the spin as struggling Stoke City make the trip to The Hawthorns on Saturday (12 November). A win for his side will see the Baggies jump out of the relegation zone and above Alex Neil’s side in the table.
In other West Brom news, Chris Lepkowski has addressed rumours of the Baggies going into administration after what happened recently.
