West Brom midfielder John Swift named in Championship Team of the Week
West Brom midfielder John Swift has been named in the Championship team of the week, for his wizardry performance against Queens Park Rangers.
Without a recognised striker up top for the Baggies, Swift had to be pragmatic when he did get the ball and he carved up the QPR defence with pinpoint passing accuracy.
Swift was given a magical rating of 7.84 for his performance against QPR by the football statistics website WhoScored.
Swift has been solid all season, despite the Albion’s poor form and has gone to the next level since the appointment of Carlos Corberan as new head coach.
Headlines from the QPR game will go to West Brom’s resurgent centre-back Kyle Bartley, but it was Swift’s intelligent performance which made him the unsung hero.

Undetected.
Swift put in one of those brilliant midfield performances that fans can sometimes overlook, he did virtually everything right against QPR.
A lot of fans doubted whether Swift could ever be a top player for the Baggies and Saturday’s performance suggested he’s more than capable of putting in a shift.
His improvement since Corberan’s arrival has been evident and it seems the Spaniard is having an extremely positive effect on him.
Even when not at his best, Swift seems to make things tick for West Brom in the middle of the park, something that’s needed in any Championship team.
Against QPR Swift seemed to drop deeper, which was pleasing to see, rather than languishing around up top and not doing much.
Swift can be a proper number 10 for West Brom moving forward, hopefully, he can keep this rich vein of form up for the foreseeable.
Next up for Swift and the Baggies is Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
