Darnell Furlong seems to aim dig at Steve Bruce as West Brom win v Stoke
West Brom recorded a third successive league win under Carlos Corberan on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Stoke City.
Corberan has had an immediate impact at The Hawthorns, with the Spaniard picking up nine points in his first four games. The Baggies have risen up to 21st as a result.
The performances have been much improved and the defence looks transformed with three consecutive clean sheets. There’s a stark contrast between now and the final games under Steve Bruce, and Darnell Furlong couldn’t help but fire a dig at his ex-boss.
Speaking after Saturday’s victory, Furlong told West Brom TV: “Definitely more organised. We’ve got a structure, fine details. We’re being coached, which is great.
“Every player is ready to work hard, players are coming off the bench and you’re seeing the impact they’re making. No one wants to concede.”
Taking aim
A major criticism of Bruce’s time at West Brom was that the team lacked identity and a clear style of play. Corberan has already started addressing that issue during his first few weeks at the club.

Bruce’s training-ground work also came under fire and going off Furlong’s latest comments the players are enjoying the Spaniard’s training sessions much more.
Bruce simply didn’t know how to get the most out of this talented West Brom squad and the players ended up downing tools on him after a terrible start to the season.
With a young and creative manager now at the helm we’re starting to see the true ability of this West Brom squad.
Corberan now has another month during the World Cup break to deliver more training to his squad, and when the league resumes in December he’ll be targeting a huge climb up the Championship table.
