Pundit in awe of ‘unbelievable’ moment from Brandon Thomas-Asante in West Brom win v Stoke

ITV pundit Sam Parkin was full of praise for Brandon Thomas-Asante after his performance for West Brom in the Baggies’ 2-0 victory over Stoke City.

Thomas-Asante scored a stunning second-half volley to help Carlos Coberan’s side to a third successive Championship victory.

Parkin was impressed with the 23-year-old’s overall performance, particularly the striker’s work ethic whilst operating up front for the Baggies.

“Bartley and Phillips in particular with how much they’ve improved in the last few weeks. Thomas-Asante getting his opportunity from the off and the goal was sublime,” said Parkin (ITV Highlights, 44:29).

“An unbelievable acrobatic volley from a player who I understood Carlos Coberan showed him some clip from his Salford days and as we’ve seen in this game it’s paid off because he was brilliant today, his work ethic as well as that fantastic goal.

“There was a lot to like about West Brom, the set piece threat as well. If John Swift can replicate what Sorba Thomas was for Huddersfield then they’ll have that in their armoury as well.”

Wow

That was a mesmerising moment from the striker, and hopefully, we will now see his West Brom career get going after struggling for game time. The appointment of Corberan should see Thomas-Asante start to show The Hawthorns faithful that he is more than capable of performing at Championship level.

It’s amazing what a couple of weeks can do in football, with there being a far better feeling surrounding the club after a miserable start to the season. Corberan has got this group of players believing in their ability again. Albion have a lot of quality in their ranks and recent results have shown they were massively underperforming with Steve Bruce in charge.

West Brom

It would be refreshing to see Thomas-Asante go on a good run of goalscoring form after netting three times so far for the Baggies. A consistent goalscoring threat has been lacking at The Hawthorns. If the 23-year-old can show he is capable of leading the line for Albion, then chance and goals should follow.
