West Brom left no option over Cedric Kipre loan deal with Cardiff City

West Brom have no option to be allowed to recall Cedric Kipre from his loan deal at Championship side Cardiff City, according to Birmingham Live.

The 25-year-old was allowed to join the Baggies’ divisional rivals in the summer after failing to impress Steve Bruce during pre-season and on loan at Charleroi in Belgium last season.

Since his move to the Bluebirds, though, he has been a regular at the heart of their defence and they currently sit above West Brom in the league table going into the World Cup break.

But if Carlos Corberan wanted to recall him in January to bolster his own defence he has been denied by the rules that have made this move an international one.

As Cardiff play in Wales, Kipre’s move has been classed as one across borders even though the teams play in the same league and as a result, it cannot be cut short by either party.

No need

Before Corberan’s appointment as West Brom manager, the club may have been hoping to bring the Ivory Coast international back to the Hawthorns but there is no need anymore.

The Spanish manager has worked miracles to give birth to a revitalised Kyle Bartley who scored two goals in two games before the World Cup break kicked in.

The Englishman has made that position his own alongside Dara O’Shea and Semi Ajayi and there would be no room left for Kipre if he were to return so it is best for all parties that he stays in South Wales.

Championship rules mean that he can’t come back to haunt Corberan and Albion this season unless Cardiff make the temporary switch permanent in the January transfer window.

If a centre-half is suddenly needed desperately then West Brom can always recall Caleb Taylor from Cheltenham Town having impressed in League One this season.

In other West Brom news, this Strictly Come Dancing star was left in amazement at one Baggie against Stoke having attended the game.
