West Brom defender Martin Kelly may be sold in January transfer window

West Brom defender Martin Kelly may reportedly be sold in the January transfer window amid his lack of game time under Carlos Corberan.

According to Birmingham Live [15 November], the 32-year-old is likely to fall further down the pecking order once Semi Ajayi and Kean Bryan return to full fitness.

He has been left out of the matchday squad for the last couple of games and even was part of the under-21s defence that recently shipped five goals.

West Brom

Makes sense

It makes a lot of sense for the Baggies to clear off some dead weight as and when they get the chance to do so.

Clubs tend to keep players on who’ve long overstayed their welcome and it usually does not end up benefiting either party.

The team is paying wages to a player who’s not really adding value to the team while the player’s career progression is halted due to the lack of game time.

If Corberan has made the decision to part ways with the defender then it makes sense to ship off at the earliest opportunity available.

He will drop further down the pecking order as it is and rather than playing under-21s football, it’s best for him to look for another club as well.

Whether or not another Championship club takes him remains to be seen but we’re hoping that his future is resolved sooner rather than later.
