Irish newspaper reacts to West Brom duo Jayson Molumby & Dara O’Shea

Jayson Molumby and Dara O’Shea both flew the flag for West Brom on international duty for the Republic of Ireland on Thursday 17 November against Norway.

Ireland lost on the evening, in a pretty evenly fought battle going down two goals to one in front of their home crowd at the Arriva Stadium.

The Irish Independent had their say on Molumby and O’Shea’s performances for Ireland on the night admitting the latter was “diligent” in his performance.

“The West Brom player had ground to cover when O’Dowda went forward and therefore had to be quite conservative in his defending. He was reasonably diligent,” said the Irish Independent about O’Shea’s six-match-rated performance.

West Brom’s other Irishman Molumby also received a suspicious match rating of six on the evening for his efforts against Norway.

“The suspicion lingers that he’s better suited to matches where Ireland are really under the cosh, but he played his part in the resurgence,” the Irish news outlet said about Molumby’s performance.

West Brom

Rest up.

The Baggies pair came away from the fixture unscathed and can now rest up before a return to action when the FIFA World Cup concludes.

Both Molumby and O’Shea have put in resurgent performances for West Brom since the arrival of Carlos Corberan and long may it continue.

Molumby maybe more so than O’Shea, the midfielder finally looks to have settled in the Baggies engine room and played a terrific match against Stoke City on November 12 2022.

The Irishman covered all areas of the pitch, a work rate he has become notorious for, but also showed a creative flair alongside this that hasn’t been seen often.

The midfielder perfectly created chance after chance on the day and West Brom fans will hope to see more of this kind of play from the 23-year-old.

West Brom are back in action on 12 December 2022 away to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in what promises to be a mouthwatering Christmas fixture.
