Brandon Thomas-Asante hails amazing Steve Bruce in new West Brom verdict

Brandon Thomas-Asante has sung the praises of former West Brom head coach Steve Bruce, who recruited him from League Two minnows Salford.

Thomas-Asante was signed by Bruce for £300,000 in arguably one of the only good things he did during his time at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies forward admitted he has “a lot of respect” for the amazing Bruce for bringing him to West Brom, an act of faith he’ll never forget.

“First of all, a lot of respect to Steve Bruce as well,” said Thomas-Asante as quoted by the Express and Star.

“He brought me in and a lot of the players still speak positively of him. More than anything, an amazing man and a lot of respect there.”

Interesting.

Thomas-Asante’s view of old Bruce may be slightly rose-tinted by the sounds of things, he did save the striker from League Two to be fair.

Nevertheless, to hear that a lot of players still speak positively about him is bizarre, especially when you consider the performances they were putting out for him.

At times it looked like absolutely no one at the club wanted to play for Bruce so this sudden change of tune is strange, to say the least.

West Brom seem to be heading in a much more positive direction now Bruce has left the club, so there’s no need to be bringing him back up for some unwanted air time.

Thomas-Asante himself looks like he’s improved under the guidance of new head coach Carlos Corberan and his stunner against Stoke City all but cemented this theory.

The Baggies return to action on December 12 2022 in a lovely Christmas clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
