Sky Sports pundit: West Brom have strongest squad in Championship, Corberan can have no complaints

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Campbell believes West Brom have the strongest squad in the Championship and therefore don’t need to make any January signings.

Despite sitting 21st in the Championship, Campbell thinks West Brom are strong in every department and therefore can ignore the January transfer window completely.

Carlos Corberan has made an immediate impact at The Hawthorns and picked up nine points in his first four games.

A number of players look improved under his stewardship, and Campbell thinks the current Baggies squad is good enough to achieve his targets this season.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Campbell said: “If they don’t sign one player they’ve still got the squad for it.

“The manager will know what he wants but West Brom are stacked across the board. They’ve got one of – if not the – strongest squad in the Championship.

“The problem is they haven’t been performing but they’re now getting a bit of confidence. I think they’re good to go.

There’s no denying that the Baggies have one of the strongest squads in the Championship and should be competing far higher up the table, but Corberan surely won’t be happy with zero investment over January.

West Brom

The Spaniard will be keen to start building his own squad in the West Midlands and will want players that suit his style.

Not every player in the squad will be able to fit into Corberan’s philosophy and he deserves to be backed if the board expect him to continue the side’s current form.

The current squad have already shown they have plenty of weaknesses, so while current form is good there are still definitely flaws that need addressing.
