Brandon Thomas-Asante leaves West Brom teammates in stitches after World Cup blunder

West Brom players were asked to predict the World Cup and Brandon Thomas-Asante was left blushing after he gave his answer.

The World Cup is underway and West Brom’s squad are busy preparing for the second half of the Championship season under new boss Carlos Corberan.

But while training continues in the West Midlands, the club asked the squad some questions and their prediction for the Qatar tournament.

Via the club’s Instagram, Thomas-Asante, Daryl Dike and Grady Diangana discuss their predictions for the tournament’s top scorer.

But after Dike decides on Brazil’s Neymar, and Diangana decides on Argentina’s Lautaro Martinez or Lionel Messi, Thomas-Asante mistakenly picks Kelechi Iheanacho despite Nigeria not qualifying for the tournament.

“Someone like Iheanacho, Nigeria will go far,” said Thomas-Asante before realising his mistake.

“That’s crazy, please tell me that’s on video, that’s ridiculous,” replied Dike.

Whoops

You might be better off sticking to West Brom, Brandon.

The 23-year-old has had a great impact for the Baggies since joining in the summer, and he ended the first half of the season on a high after scoring a wonder goal against Stoke City.

The other man in the video, Dike, is now back fit and will be hoping to be a big part of Corberan’s plans once the Championship returns in December.

The Spaniard could even decide to play a front two including both Thomas-Asante and Dike. If West Brom don’t dip into the market for a new forward in January then they’ll both be looking forward to taking plenty of opportunities and trying to stamp their name as the first-choice striker.

It’s a headache that Corberan won’t mind, and hopefully, the goals start flowing for both of them in the second half of the season and the rise up the table can begin.
