West Brom schedule behind-closed-doors friendly against Elche to conclude Spain tour
West Brom have announced a scheduled friendly against La Liga side Elche on Friday afternoon to conclude their tour of Spain.
The Baggies squad enjoyed a week-long holiday after their three-match winning streak under Carlos Corberan, but the Spaniard then few his players out to his home country for some warm-weather training over the winter break.
Corberan hopes the trip helps his players bond as well as maintain fitness over the World Cup period [Express & Star], with The Athletic’s Elias Burke also explaining that the club planned to organise at least one friendly match during their training camp.

West Brom have now revealed their opponent, with the club announcing via their website on Tuesday afternoon that the Baggies will face La Liga side Elche behind closed doors on Friday, with kick-off scheduled for 11am.
West Brom will then return to the midlands for more training sessions ahead of the Championship’s return on 12 December when Corberan’s side will travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland.
Staying sharp
Corberan’s main priority this winter will be keeping players fit and active in an attempt to maintain momentum from before the break.
West Brom racked up three consecutive victories under the Spaniard, lifting the club to 21st in the table. If the team are able to return in a similar vein of form then playoffs is still in contention with sixth-placed Millwall just eight points above the Baggies.

On top of that, Corberan will have a full-fit squad to choose from upon the Championship’s return, and hopefully, many first-team stars pick up some vital match minutes against Elche on Friday.
The top-flight Spanish outfit will be a good test for Corberan’s side and it will also help the team get back into the swing of things with league fixtures now less than two weeks away.
Sunderland, Rotherham and Coventry make up West Brom’s next three league fixtures and a very achievable nine points would see the club go soaring up the table.
