Carlos Corberan keen to squash expectations as he delivers West Brom fan warning
West Brom entered the winter break off the back of three consecutive victories, but Carlos Corberan doesn’t want expectations to get out of hand.
Corberan has made an immediate impact at The Hawthorns and despite losing his opening game against Sheffield United, the Baggies then picked up nine points to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.
West Brom will next be in action on 12 December against Sunderland, where the Baggies will look to pick up where they left off.

But with excitement and expectation soaring through the clouds in the West Midlands, Corberan has delivered a stern warning to West Brom fans going over the top.
“Sometimes we all want to watch good games but sometimes the teams are going to be difficult,” said Corberan, as quoted by Birmingham Live.
“I think the most important thing in football is to be ready mentally, to face the situation the football puts in front of you.
“The team was in a good way last time to face any kind of situation, mentally we are strong, we are a competitive team.”
Complacency warning
Usually managers coming into a job midway through the season have a purple patch of form – a honeymoon period under the new boss.
West Brom seemed to experience exactly that in Corberan’s first few weeks at The Hawthorns, and the Spaniard is remaining realistic about the club’s chances this season.

Fans and pundits have gotten a little carried away in recent weeks, with mentions of play-offs and even automatic promotion. But West Brom will at some point experience a tough few weeks under Corberan this season and the club, fans and board have to all remain solidly behind the new manager.
On top of that, if players start to believe the excitement then it can quickly lead to complacency and West Brom could resume the league overconfident. Corberan will be doing everything possible to avoid that disastrous scenario.
Excitement doesn’t have to be squashed entirely, but fans do have to remain realistic about what the club can achieve under Corberan this season.
