Darren Moore gives verdict on ‘thoroughbred’ Carlos Corberan at West Brom

Darren Moore insists that Carlos Corberan will “squeeze the life out of everybody” at West Brom after his strong start at The Hawthorns.

After a dismal start to the season under Steve Bruce, West Brom adopted a completely different approach by appointing Corberan at the helm.

The Spaniard is very keen on implementing his tactical ideas on the training ground, requiring players to fully commit to his system.

West Brom

It’s a strategy that former West Brom manager Moore thinks will be successful at The Hawthorns due to the work ethic of Corberan.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Moore said: “Having met Carlos, he’s a real top top guy, a real, real thoroughbred. He is very hard-working and very diligent with his work.

“He absolutely will squeeze the life out of everybody because of his work ethic, which I think is what the Albion need.

“I think what the club wants, which I’ve always consistently said, is the players buying into what he’s about, he’s very different, very, very different.

“He’ll work morning and afternoon sessions. It’ll be very diligent with the work, but he’s a real thoroughbred and his work ethic won’t be ever be called into question.

“His methods are straight and consistent.”

Full commitment

For Corberan’s appointment to work at West Brom, the whole club has to buy into his methods.

Fans have to remain patient through the good and bad times, players have to follow his tactics to a tee and the board have to back him with player signings and decisions behind the scenes.

West Brom

Provided everyone at West Brom unites together under Corberan, then the season is still salvageable. He’s already shown that he can get the best out of this Baggies squad with three consecutive wins before the winter break.

The Albion are only eight points off of the playoff positions in the Championship and if the team are able to pick up where they left off then that could become a real possibility.

There are bound to be bumps along the way, but there’s finally a reason for fans to be excited again at the Hawthorns. Corberan has brought a real excitement back to the West Midlands.
