Sky Sports pundit: Squeaky clean West Brom record is not good, Carlos Corberan will want it gone

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

West Brom boast the best fair-play record in the Championship this season, but Kevin Campbell believes Carlos Corberan will want to change that.

The Baggies have been dubbed the cleanest team in the division after the Yorkshire Post revealed that West Brom had faced the lowest number of cards this season.

While that sounds like a great showing of discipline on paper, it also highlights the lack of fight and tenacity in this West Brom squad – something Corberan will immediately want to change.

Campbell was quick to label the record “not good”, and suggested that the competitiveness of the Championship leaves no room for teams caring about their fair-play record.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Campbell said: “Well, here’s the funny thing: When the team is doing well and winning games – you don’t tend to find that they’re the cleanest team in the world because they have to get stuck in.

“So I’m sure Carlos Coreberan will get rid of that for 10 wins on the bounce.

“The competitive nature and the edge that you need in the Championship – being the nicest team isn’t good.

Campbell clearly believes that the Baggies need to show a bit of their nasty side under Corberan. Albion have already felt the impact of the Spaniard’s arrival after picking up nine points in four games, but there’s still plenty of work to be done.

There’s a real chance for West Brom to turn the season around and soar up the table, but it will require bucketloads of energy, fight and passion from the squad.

If the Baggies end hte season still top of the fair play record then things haven’t gone to plan.
