Michael Jacobs hails ‘fantastic’ West Brom loanee Josh Griffiths live on Sky Sports
Portsmouth winger Michael Jacobs reserved high praise for West Brom loanee Josh Griffiths after a very good few weeks for the goalkeeper.
The 21-year-old has been a mainstay in Danny Cowley’s side this season after he tried to sign him 12 months ago for his Pompey side.
Griffiths made a string of fine saves for Portsmouth as they suffered a 2-0 defeat away at Wycombe Wanderers in League One, courtesy of goals from Anis Mehmeti and Gareth McCleary.

Jacobs was ruled out of the game through injury but joined the Sky Sports commentary team for the second half where he was very complimentary about the Baggies youngster.
“He’s been fantastic, Josh Griffiths,” Jacobs said [Sky Sports Football, 4 December, 02:15pm]. “Come from West Brom on loan, really good goalkeeper, great size.
“The last few six weeks or so he’s been in really good form, kept us in a lot of games.”
Bring him back
If West Brom have been smart enough to put a recall option in his loan deal then they have to trigger that option when the January transfer window opens because he is too good to not be in the Albion side.
David Button and Alex Palmer have both had loads of chances to prove themselves as the outstanding candidate for the number one shirt at The Hawthorns and neither have managed to do so.

Griffiths has been exceptional at both Lincoln City and Portsmouth in his loan spells and arguably should have been given a chance by Steve Bruce this season after Sam Johnstone left the club.
Carlos Corberan may well have plans on bringing him back to the Midlands, if he can, in January which will have to give Palmer and Button a big kick up the rear to pick their game up.
Jacobs isn’t the only one in awe of him so West Brom have to give him a chance if they want to keep him long-term.
In other West Brom news, less than 24 hours after heading out on loan, this Baggie became an instant hero in a two-goal, match-winning performance.
