West Brom want to sign Huddersfield midfielder Jon Russell in January bargain deal
According to Alan Nixon, Carlos Corberan is lining up his first signing as West Brom boss with the Spaniard keen on reuniting with Huddersfield midfielder Jon Russell.
After recording three straight wins to end the first half of the season, Corberan will undoubtedly want to try and maintain the momentum at West Brom by strengthening his squad in January.
To do so, it seems Corberan will return to his former club Huddersfield to sign Russell amid his contract struggles in Yorkshire. His current deal with the club expires in the summer.

Nixon, who regularly features in The Sun, reports that West Brom want to sign Russell in a “bargain deal” after falling out of favour with the Terriers. He adds that West Brom hope a “sensible fee will land the Jamaican next month”.

Reunion
Corberan was clearly impressed by what he saw from Russell during his time at Huddersfield, and at 22 years old the midfielder has plenty of room for growth and development.
Russell came through the ranks at Chelsea, spending 13 years in their academy before eventually departing. But to have signed a professional deal with the Premier League outfit shows that it’s not just Corberan who sees lofty potential in him.

His ongoing contract dispute at Huddersfield also presents a great opportunity for the Baggies to pick him up for cheap. They’ll want any fee possible before risking him leave for free in the summer, so a “bargain deal” as Nixon puts it is perfect for both sides.
On top of that West Brom could do with some midfield reinforcement. Corberan has sided with Okay Yokuslu and Jayson Molumby in his latest Championship matches, with Tom Rogic and Jake Livermore being restricted to substitute cameos.
Russell would add some much-needed youth and depth to West Brom’s midfield department ahead of a hectic schedule when the Championship returns next week.
