Carlos Corberan connection makes Jon Russell West Brom move interesting
Jon Russell has become a frozen-out man at Huddersfield since the departure of Carlos Corberan and could be reunited with the Spaniard at West Brom, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Russell was a shining light for the Terriers during their last campaign, guiding them to a third-placed finish but the 22-year-old has lost his touch this season.
As a result, Huddersfield’s boss Mark Fotheringham has banished Russell from his starting XI and contract negotiations between the player and club have stalled.

Now, Corberan is at West Brom, Russell could potentially re-light that fire that was intensely burning for him last season and bring it with him to The Hawthorns.
A move makes complete sense because of this and with the player in the final six months of his Huddersfield contract, he would be available for a cut-price deal.

Low-risk.
This could be a low-risk deal for West Brom, especially when you consider that Corberan knows how to get the best out of the midfielder.
At 22 years old the maestro is still very young and the Baggies could potentially get the player as he is entering his peak years in football.
There’s no denying his performances, when he’s been playing this season have been poor, but the Coberan connection could turn this on its head.
He’s a secure passing midfielder and whilst not completely progressive on the pitch, he makes all the hard things look extremely easy.
Standing at 6’4 he also brings with him a physical presence in opposition boxes on set pieces, something the Albion can capitalise on.
Competition for places within Corberan’s engine room is another reason why a move for Russell makes sense, the Spaniard needs his squad to be fighting for first-team spots.
The former Chelsea academy graduate is worth taking a shot on, he has the potential to thrive at The Hawthorns and could prove to be a shrewd bit of business moving forward.
In other West Brom news, the club want to sign this Huddersfield midfielder in January.
