Carlos Corberan must sell West Brom defender Kyle Bartley amid Ryan Porteous transfer link

After an impressive turnaround under Carlos Corberan, all eyes will be on the January transfer window and how West Brom shape their squad.

The new manager has to be backed in the transfer window to bring in one or two new faces. He should be given the licence to make necessary surgeries in the squad.

According to a report from Football League World, a host of clubs including Norwich City, Sunderland, Watford and the Baggies are keen on Hibs defender Ryan Porteous.

West Brom

He has a contract at the club until the end of the season, and a move away in January, preferably to a Championship club is expected.

The fact that the Baggies are in the race for his signature indicates that Corberan is planning to bring in one defender. If that’s the case, he should sell Kyle Bartley to make up room for a new arrival.

It has been a rollercoaster season for Bartley. The centre-back has a contract at the club until the end of the season, and a move away in January, preferably to a Championship club is expected.

The former Swansea City centre-back was out in the cold and was hardly used by Steve Bruce.

West Brom

The Express and Star journalist, Lewis Cox, described his situation as a horrorshow after he picked up a costly red card against Millwall, but he has been very “impressive” in recent games.

It appears that he may have turned his career around after he scored two goals since the Spaniard took over. He has been nominated for November Player of the Month in the second division.

Bartley has a contract at the club until the end of the season, and it will be high time to sell him.

Porteous has no intention of signing new terms at Easter Road. He is a very talented player and Corberan should look to bring in more young players at the club.

In other West Brom news, while Stewart is set to return, there are a number of absentees for Sunderland with two players still out due to the World Cup.
