West Brom duo Daryl Dike and Brandon Thomas-Asante have to play together

West Brom will resume their assault up the Championship table on Monday night (12 December) when they travel to Wearside to face Sunderland.

Carlos Corberan enjoyed a very good start to life in charge of the Baggies in helping drag them out of the relegation zone but his work is not done yet.

The Spaniard appears set to be boosted by the return of American international striker Daryl Dike at the Stadium of Light, according to Birmingham Live, and that could give him a selection headache.

So far in his short tenure as West Brom manager, Corberan has exclusively played just one striker at a time with an emphasis on packing the midfield with numbers.

But he no longer has just one decent striker with Dike back fit and Brandon Thomas-Asante finding his feet in the second tier after his summer move from Salford City.

It would be tough to drop Thomas-Asante after his remarkable overhead kick goal against Stoke City in the final game before the World Cup break but Dike cost the club £7million in January.

That amount of investment has to come to something and if he is fit to play, then he has to start to make the money justified and that could be a problem for Corberan.

The Spaniard should be looking to change his system entirely to fit both talismanic strikers into the side as they have the attributes to form a brilliant partnership together at The Hawthorns.

Dike possesses the strength and height to be a more traditional target man while Thomas-Asante’s agility and speed make him a danger to opposition defenders in behind.

Most managers dream of that combination and now it’s time for it to be unleashed against Sunderland.

In other West Brom news, one Baggies defender has been hailed as one of the best in the entire division after resurrecting his career in the Midlands.
