Hibernian want sell-on-fee for West Brom target Ryan Porteous if transfer is completed in January
Scottish club Hibernian want a sell-on-fee to be included in West Brom transfer target Ryan Porteus’ contract if he decides to leave the club, The Scottish Sun understands.
Recent reports linked the Baggies with a move for the Scotland star in January, with up to six Championship clubs interested in acquiring his services. [SunSport]
The 23-year-old looks destined for a move away from Hibs in January after contract talks were brought to an end between the two parties – and subsequently opening the door for a move to the Hawthorns.

However, if a sale were to be agreed upon, certain requirements would need to be included in his contract.
The report said: “The Easter Road side look set to sell the academy graduate in January and will hope to agree a sell-on fee.”

Understandable
A sell-on-fee is to be expected from a club such as Hibernian, who could cash in financially if Porteous were to make a name for himself and move onto a big Premier League club.
For West Brom, this doesn’t represent a problem and shouldn’t put them off signing the defender, who could be the perfect replacement for Kyle Bartley in the heart of the Baggies’ defence.
Although improving lately under Carlos Corberan, the 31-year-old has been a liability at the back for the Baggies and was a major player in the demise of Steve Bruce at the club.
With Porteous having no intention of putting pen to paper at Easter Road, the path is clear for the Spaniard’s side to at least enter the race to sign the centre-back.
It would likely prove a clever signing for the west midlands club, with an injection of youth desperately needed at the club following years of instability.
In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan is given the green light in the club’s pursuit of midfielder Jon Russell.
