Barry Bannan shares ‘wasted’ Tom Rogic verdict in West Brom win V Sunderland
Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has claimed Tom Rogic is “wasted” in the Championship after West Brom picked up another victory against Sunderland.
The Australian equalised for the Baggies before Daryl Dike fired home an 82nd-minute header to record a fourth win on the spin for Carlos Coberan’s side.
Bannan praised the former Celtic midfielder for his performance at the Stadium of Light and suggested the 29-year-old should be playing at a higher level.
“Tom Rogic, lovely player to watch, wasted in the Championship,” said Bannan (Twitter, 12 December).
Superb
Rogic displayed all his qualities in the North East, with his wonderful outside-of-the-foot finish the catalyst for Albion’s comeback victory. So many players would’ve panicked in that situation, but he showed composure and a cool head to leave Anthony Patterson with absolutely no chance.
Since Steve Bruce’s departure, it’s clear there’s a new lease of life surrounding this group of players and there’s evident quality all over the pitch. Rogic, Jed Wallace and John Swift would get into most top six teams in the Championship, and the return of Daryl Dike is also a huge boost for the Baggies going forward.

The American has been blighted by injuries this season but could well be the catalyst for Corberan’s side making a significant climb up the Championship table. The Baggies have desperately missed a presence in the box and the 22-year-old could thrive with the likes of Wallace, Rogic and Swift behind him.
