West Brom manager Carlos Corberan made squad watch Sir Alex Ferguson documentary during Spain training camp
West Brom manager Carlos Corberan invited his whole squad to watch Sir Alex Ferguson’s ‘Never Give In’ documentary during their warm weather training camp in Spain, according to The Athletic.
The Baggies boss invited his group to learn about the former Manchester United manager to take away the determination and drive it took to thrive at Old Trafford – where he eventually won 38 trophies in 26 years.
Corberan evidently got the response he wished for from his players, who kickstarted their return to the Championship with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Sunderland after falling behind in the opening 20 minutes.

The Athletic journalist Elias Burke reported: “As an avid watcher of sports documentaries, Corberan invited the group to watch the ‘Never Give In’ documentary on the life and career of former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
“The human side appealed to him, and he called on his players to study and internalise the determination it takes to start from Govan, a suburb of Glasgow, to become a multiple Premier League and Champions League-winning manager.”

Winning mentality
Corberan couldn’t have asked for a better response from his players as they deservedly claimed three points at the Stadium of Light on Monday evening (12 December).
Although his side fell behind thanks to an Amad Diallo penalty, his side ironically never gave in and clawed their way back into the game, showing a level of fight that was not evident under the previous regime of Steve Bruce.
Substitute Tom Rogic kickstarted the comeback with a beautiful goal before The Baggies pressure told, and Daryl Dike got his name on the scoresheet from close range.
If the Spaniard had hoped that Ferguson would have a profound effect on his players, this is evidence that his mad methods may well be genius.
With three points, the Baggies climbed up to 17th in the Championship table, just four points off the top half of the table and, more remarkably, eight points of the play-off places.
