West Brom must sell Cedric Kipre next summer after ‘campaign of struggle’ away from Hawthorns

West Brom defender Cedric Kipre has endured a “campaign of struggle” this season, and Carlos Corberan must sanction his exit next summer.

Kipre joined the Baggies in 2020 from Wigan Athletic on a four-year deal. He has made only three appearances for the club to date, and has been out on loan twice.

He is currently playing on loan for Cardiff City, and Birmingham Mail (14 December) has described his performance as “erratic”.

It felt like Kipre could become a valuable part of the Baggies squad this season but Steve Bruce was more than happy to send him out on loan.

Kipre has been a regular for Cardiff, having made 20 appearances in the league. However, he has been inconsistent having conceded a penalty in the 2-2 draw with Stoke at the weekend.

Despite making an impressive start for Cardiff, it has been a struggle for him once again since the sacking of Steve Morison.

Carlos Corberan will be looking to stamp his own authority on the side and he will look to bring in his choice of players. When he will look at Kipre, his records won’t give him the confidence to keep him at the club.

Moreover, he has a contract at the Hawthorns until 2024. The Baggies will get an opportunity to make some money from his sale in the summer.

Corberan is building something exciting at the club after a nightmare spell under Bruce, and he will definitely want to have players who can make the squad better.

At 26, he should be in his prime, and not someone with whom loan experiments can be made year after year. It’s really hard to see Kipre having any future at West Brom next season.

In other news, West Brom are in the hunt to sign Ryan Porteous after some reported Rangers interest.
