Guillem Ballague gushes over West Brom manager Carlos Corberan
Guillem Ballague has been impressed by the sudden change Carlos Corberan has brought about at West Brom since replacing Steve Bruce.
The Baggies were languishing in the relegation zone before his appointment and have remarkably improved their performances to sit in 16th place and only five points away from a playoff position.
Since his arrival, West Brom have picked up 15 points from a possible 18 and that’s led to him being nominated for the Manager of the Month.
Via Twitter, Ballague wrote, “Opening my eyes to non WC news and just realised what @CarlosCorberan is doing at @WBA. Upturn in fortunes:
• 5 straight wins in his opening 6 games
• 15 points out of 18
• Championship Manager of the Month for November nominee
“Help me. How is he doing it?”
Incredible
Nobody thought that Corberan would have the sort of impact that he’s had and it’s only a testament to the remarkable work he’s put in.
Not only has he been a tactical genius, but he’s also managed to bring back harmony behind the scenes at the Hawthorns – something which Bruce and Valerien Ismael failed to do.
The style of football has also improved and so have the results and for once, watching the Albion play is something that fans are actually excited about.
Ballague is right in being surprised by it and most fans would also take five wins from the first six games when he was appointed.
A side that looked in real danger of relegation is now one that’s a legitimate contender to finish in the top six.
There’s still plenty of football left to play this season, but a good transfer window coupled with a relatively lucky injury record could see the Baggies qualify for the playoffs and we’re not putting it past them to do.
