Councillor Les Trumpeter to take action with council amid West Brom loan news
West Brom are set to take on yet another loan from MSD Holdings and Councillor Les Trumpeter is not ready to take it lying down.
Chris Lepkowski shared the news of Albion’s intentions on Thursday (22 December) via Twitter after a letter was sent out to shareholders who withhold the right to approve the motion or not.
Guochuan Lai has already got a loan to be paid back to the club before 31 December, his own deadline, but another could be made to help Carlos Corberan and West Brom make moves in January.
Trumpeter, the councillor for Sandwell, admitted that he was worried about this news from The Hawthorns and that he would be liaising with the necessary people soon to try and come to a resolution.
“Very concerning news,” he said via his personal Twitter account. “I will shortly be liaising with the relevant department in Sandwell Council for an update on the Asset of Community Value (ACV) nomination that went in early last month.”
Unstable
Even if this loan does create a few million quid for Corberan to spend in January and propel the club back towards the top half of the Championship, it will only serve to bite Albion on the backside further down the line.
There are some very talented players at The Hawthorns who could create some funds for January but the Baggies have never been happy to sell players and it often haunts them.

There has to be a realisation sooner rather than later that the club cannot keep taking out loans and getting money pumped in from elsewhere because the well will eventually run dry.
Once it does, West Brom could be in deep trouble and plummet down the division as Portsmouth did in the late 2000s/early 2010s.
Pompey are still down in the third tier after a decade of rebuilding and are not looking likely to make it out easily for a long time yet and the last thing West Brom needs is the Papa John’s Trophy to add to their long list of issues.
In other West Brom news, Ron Gourlay has finally announced that an investigation will take place into financial dealings at the club in 2014.
