Pat Frost calls Ron Gourlay to address West Brom fans at halftime of Preston North End clash

England kit man and West Brom fan Pat Frost has called on Ron Gourlay to address The Hawthorns at halftime of their Championship clash against Preston.

Albion recently announced (28 December) that they have taken out a £20million loan from US investment firm MSD UK Holdings Limited, which will be used for the general business operations of the football club.

Carlos Coberan’s side face Preston on 29 December and Frost has called on the chief executive to explain the situation to fans during the halftime break.

“I fully expect Ron Gourlay to address the fans at halftime tomorrow…he won’t, but he should,” said Sharp (Twitter, 28 December).

Worrying

The off-the-field situation at The Hawthorns is extremely worrying and the club shouldn’t be looking to take out a loan of that size at any point. The Baggies need to look to be sustainable and not be in a situation where they owe outside investors sizable sums of money.

We’ve seen a number of clubs fall sharply through the leagues due to a lack of due diligence at the boardroom level, and the Baggies must ensure they aren’t the next club to suffer. The news of the loan puts even more significance on Albion achieving success in the 2022/23 campaign.

West Brom

If they can somehow get into the playoffs and secure promotion, it would certainly mean a far more favourable financial situation in the 2023/24 season.

At the moment, the top six is a real possibility with there being a larger number of teams who are currently separated by just a couple of points. If the Baggies can keep up their good form under the Spaniard, then the top six will start to look like a probability and not a possibility.
